Wurzer’s first book was a regional best-seller and award winner. “Tales of the Road: Highway 61” was published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press and later became an Emmy award winning feature length documentary for Minnesota Public Television.
She is working on another book about the history of Minnesota broadcasting. Some of that research led to the three part digital streaming series and television documentary, “Broadcast Wars,” an unvarnished look at the local television news business in the 1970’s and 80’s.
She likes to describe herself as an “armchair historian” but her work in creating engaging history based content has also earned her awards including the Midwest History Association’s Alice Smith Prize for Public History.

I’m about ready to launch a new nonprofit that’s focused on creating historically focused content. It’s called the “Heritage Media Initiative” We’re filing the necessary paperwork now and I’m getting a domain name/PO Box,. etc. It’s brand new!!
